![]() Some may use it for web development or the rare site that only works in Chrome, but the majority uses a different browser. Most Ghacks regulars do not use Chrome as their main browser. ![]() Firefox will continue to support Manifest V2 but also Manifest V3 this means, that Manifest V2 extensions continue to be supported for the foreseeable future. Vivaldi offers plenty of integrated customizations and a mail client, Brave has a good content blocker and a different business model than many other browser makers, and Opera maintains a browser focused on gaming.Īs far as non-Chromium browsers are concerned, there is Firefox, which relies on its own codebase, and Safari, which is maintained by Apple. There are plenty of Chromium-based browsers that offer more than Chrome. Microsoft with its Edge browser is an example, but it seems that Microsoft Edge will support Manifest V3 only going forward. Only some browser makers have the resources to do something about it. Especially privacy improving and content blocking extensions are impacted by this, and some have suggested that the change is a deliberate move by Google to strengthen its advertising business. Manifest V3 changes core APIs that extensions have used for a long time. With Google's stronghold on Chromium development, all Chromium-based browsers face a tough decision: either follow Google's lead and drop support for Manifest V2, or invest resources in keeping Manifest V2 supported. I know this post will not approved since Opera has already blocked on twitter and I have banned from this forum twice before but as a user since 2000, I deserve some respect and words. The introduction of Manifest V3 is just one example of that. Plus all of these browsers are constantly updated so no issues of outdated. I used a lot of other lesser-known browsers like naver whale browser and cococo browser and maxthon browser and they all allow the above mentioned things and provide a color theming from their settings itself, if one doesnt want to install any new themes but opera, alas. ![]() ![]() Support for themes and coloring the browser. I even talked to a opera person and they said, they cannot allow another search engine due to lack of money and the money google gives cannot be cancelled (Opera is obviously oblivious to the fact that if you search through google search, google shows to use chrome and I dont know it is pretty easy to jump back to chrome with that popup, same goes with duckduckgo and bing). I talked to a lot of team of search engines and they said, it is opera fault and you should ask Opera to allow you to do so. Opera mobile has 10 search engines out of the box so it is great but when you go to desktop, it has only 3 and one cannot add any new search engine. Vertical tabs (requested brave team since 2021 and they brought it in 2023 for final release and it works amazing).īookmark structuring and ordering where old bookmarks were on top and new went below but now post 90 version of opera, it is new on top and old at bottom without providing user any control or options to decide which way they want it but now is enforced by Opera. Support to sync installed extensions like chrome or brave or Vivaldi or Edge. Till now, Opera lacks or haven't brought in. I hoped with Opera One, things would be different but it is same with a little bit of tweaks in design only where a lot of empty spaces are wasted and crashing as a feature. What I liked about Opera during my school days weren't same when I am using it for professional purposes. The mobile Opera is always better since it was in java and currently it has features I could hardly find in any other browser.īut that is all good I have to say since Opera isnt keen on upgrading itself with time and users. The Opera browser is as always good-looking and most importantly, works way better than chrome and other chromium browsers and doesnt hang like them.
